Tour The Mack Garage

Here are a few photos to help you get acquainted with our garage.

While our address is clearly marked on the street side of our shop, access to the garage is actually from the alley in the rear of the building (see building entrance photo).

This provides us with safe, ample customer parking and storage for vehicles as we work on them. Once you step inside, you’ll find the check-in counter and waiting room on your left where you will be able to discuss your needs and wait for your work to be performed.

Professional is the word that best describes this place. Everyone who talks to you is knowledgeable, kind, and they can get the work done like it’s an ease to them. Every car shop is usually slammed, so follow their advice for when to drop your car off. Use them for multiple services and treat your car to Mack Garage’s sweet sweet service.

I was driving on I-75 driving to Detroit when I suddenly heard something FALL OFF my car - an awful way to start my morning. After that, the brakes in my car immediately didn't feel like they were working properly, to the point where I was legitimately afraid to drive the half hour back home. My car is an older model, and so I have been to a LOT of mechanics. Let me tell you - Mack Garage is THE BEST. They were able to fit me in SAME DAY on a weekday without an appointment; the repairs on my car ended up costing less than what they originally quoted me; they were incredibly helpful and courteous on the phone (even when I called them a second time because I needed directions to find the shop); they ordered the necessary parts for my car right away; AND they even offered to take me to a nearby coffee shop since the repairs on my car were going to take a few hours and nobody I knew was nearby and available to come pick me up. Excellent service!! I couldn't have asked for a better mechanic to help fix my car and basically fix my day. I will be back for all of my car repairs and maintenance, you can bet on that. :)

"I have been captivated by cars and trucks from as early as I can remember. This interest was not just limited to driving alone. My main interest was in the engine under the hood. I think the internal combustion engine is one of the greatest inventions ever created. In High school I bought a 1972 Buick Skylark and quickly became immersed in restoring it and it still sleeps in my garage today.

Over the past 20 years I have had the privilege of repairing hundreds of vehicles both in the professional setting and anywhere they happen to break down. I began focused on domestic models but after a short stint living in the Boston area I have become very knowledgable with foreign cars also, specifically Saabs and Volvos. This passion continues to grow and has brought about the inception of Mack Garage.

My family and I came to the East side of Detroit in 2007. We came with other families and began Mack Avenue Community Church. We believe that this community needs resources reinvested to once again become a great place. Mack Garage is an attempt to do that by offering excellent automotive repair services. I am excited about teaching you how to properly maintain your vehicle which will in the end save you lots of money avoiding costly repairs.

So whether it’s advice you seek or a long term honest mechanic you have come to the right place!"

"My passion for automotive repair really began with boats. When I was 13 my dad and I built an 8’ powerboat. The boats turned into motorcycles when I was 15, at which time I started refurbishing vintage Japanese motorcycles. Motorcycles then grew into cars when life circumstances dictated my need for my own car.

Believing that cars aren’t too different from motorcycles I set out to make a raggedy 1987 Volkswagen Scirocco road worthy once again. Well, I was wrong about the comparison between cars and motorcycles, but was hooked nonetheless.

For me the heart of automotive repair lies in the fact that we are taking something broken and restoring it to function the way it was originally designed to. This philosophy is what excites me each day at Mack Garage, as we seek to provide affordable repair services with integrity, and bring restoration to our local community."
